1. THE CHILD'S DREAM
A poem by Elmer Diktonius (Finland).
A story about a homeless child who finds a new home in the end.
Totti and his dog go downtown looking for something to eat. Only the Yellow Giraffe
cares for them and arranges things in it's own special way. Totti and the dog fall asleep
contented, and dream of an angel, who comes to them with a sausage in hand.
2. THE TREE
A poem by Rainer Brambach (Switzerland)).
A story about planting a tree snd thus giving joy to other people.
Ada wants to have a tree growing in her yard. Every time she plants a new plant, something happens to it and it fails to grow. But Ada won't give up and The Yellow Giraffe encourages her by telling about his tree.
3. AH, FROM SOMEWHERE...
A poem by Michio Mado (Japan).
A story about loneliness because not being like all the others and about getting
friends.
Sayoko is living with her grandparents in a garden surrounded by walls. She is lonely and wishes that someone would visit her on her birthday. By different ways, she sends messages to the children playing on the other side of the wall.
4. A PORTRAIT OF A BIRD
A poem by Jacques Prévert (France).
A story about overcoming fears of not being good enough and about the joy of
learning new things.
A story about a short-sighted girl, Michelle, who is always late. Furthermore, she is clumsy and shy, and she isn't very good at school. Drawing lessons are a downright nightmare, until one day a miracle happens: Michelle learns how to paint a portrait of a bird.
5. SAM
A poem by Jack Prelutsky (USA).
A story about the power of imagination and about the changes in a family's everyday routines.
A story about an "egg crazy" family and what happens when Sam, who is sick and tired of omelets, is sent to the grocery store to buy more eggs. Instead of bying eggs, Sam does a trip round the world and visits China, India and Arabia.
